BIOGRAPHY:
Robert Nesta Marley Booker (Nine Mile, Jamaica, February 6, 1945 - Miami, United States, May 11, 1981) was a musician, Jamaican guitarist and composer. He was better known as Bob Marley. During his musical career was the leader, songwriter and guitarist of the ska, rocksteady and reggae The Wailers (1964-1974) and Bob Marley & The Wailers (1974-1981). Marley remains the most widely known and respected performer of reggae music, and is credited with helping spread both Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement (of which he was a committed member) to an audience mundial.2 Among his biggest hits are the simple "I Shot the Sheriff", "No Woman, No Cry", "Jamming", "Redemption Song" and, together with The Wailers, "Three Little Birds", as well as the posthumous release "Buffalo Soldier". The compilation album Legend, released in 1984, three years after his death, is the best-selling reggae album in history with 10 platinum albums in the United States.3 and 20 million copies worldwide.
